How to Upload Digital Movies on an Unbranded Phone

1. Forget AVI (and other file formats) and stick with 3GP files

Broadly speaking, your unbranded mobile phones will claim to be having the ability to play files in both AVI and 3GP format (with the possibility of many more codecs/ formats also mentioned as playable). It is oftentimes the case however, that when you attempt to these files that you downloaded, the mobile phone seems to display a inexplicable error message. Technical people could be capable of giving an account for this, but essentially it has to do with codecs and compression. For casual users, who just want to watch movies without worries, this is not going to cut it. Therefore, I suggest forgetting AVI and any other codec/ format and stick to 3GP (also called as 3GPP). Digital movies that are in this format are nearly guaranteed to run, no matter which mobile phone from China you have.

2. Find a program that will convert digital movie files to 3GP

Whether you have collected a good sized collection of video files, or constantly download the latest Hollywood film, it is very possible that you have access to digital flicks. In order to watch these files on the made in China mobile phone we are going to have to convert them to 3GP (it is not likely you will have downloaded movies already in 3GP). The internet is full of 3GP converting programs, so just do a quick Google search under "3GP converter".

Pick out one that makes you smile (paid or free), however, I suggest you first try "free" conversion software in order to buy one that is worth the cost. Conversion itself is easy, with a lot of the software out there just requiring you to tell it where the location of the movie file you want to convert is, and where you wish the finished file to go.

3. Transfer the file to your phone and play

This step is,by far, the simplest task. Merely link up the mobile phone to your PC using USB, place your 3GP file that you converted to the phone's storage (internal or external microSD) within a folder usually referred to as "Video" or "Videos", and everything should be ready. Following this, when you have the wish to open the mobile phone's movie player, you will be able to see the movie available to play.

All in all, it is not difficult to watch movies on your unbranded mobile phone. They might not be as flashy as an iPhone when it comes to movie playback, but they do get the job done in a pinch. Plus, even if they are lower quality, they pass the time quite well when bored.
